FAQs About Our Services
We have never worked with a caterer before, what should we expect?
SoHo is a full service custom catering company. What that means is that we focus on four key areas for your event: food, beverages, staffing and rentals. Let’s break these down even further.
- FOOD – SoHo has wonderful sample menus from which you can draw inspiration and get ideas for your event. However, please do not feel limited to just these. We love to customize and create a menu that reflects your own style and tastes. If you can dream it, we can (probably) make it.
- BEVERAGES – SoHo does not provide alcoholic beverages, but we can provide everything else you may need. We offer bar mixer packages, basic non alcoholic beverages, or even creative mocktails. Again, we can work with you to curate exactly what your event needs. We also provide ice, which is harder than it sounds for large events!
- STAFFING – To create an event in a blank space, you are going to need a stellar team. SoHo has catering managers, bartenders, servers and culinary specialists onsite to execute your event flawlessly. Staff is calculated based on many factors including specific needs of your event location, menu, service style, event timeline and layout, guest count, and more. We are experts in what staff will be needed to produce the event you are envisioning.
- RENTALS – Some venues provide event items such as tables and chairs, and maybe more, but many do not. Procuring these items can be overwhelming when you do not have experience doing it, so we take care of that for you. We can source linens, plates, glassware, flatware, napkins, and so much more. Rentals are also based on your specific needs and can be customized based on your preferences.
As you can see, full service catering encompasses much more than just cooking food. So many things depend on the details of your event, so the more we know about your event, the more accurate a proposal we can create for you. But, don’t let that stop you from getting a preliminary estimate from us…we can create that from basic information such as date, location, and guest count. Then, we can update things as you make decisions.
How much will full service catering cost?
Great question, and if you got this far and read about what to expect, you have learned that so much depends on the details of your event. But, it would be fair to say that you should plan to budget a minimum of $80 per guest to cover the four key areas.
How do we secure your services?
Please don’t delay booking! Because SoHo is so focused on quality, we will only take a limited number of events each weekend. We will need a 50% deposit and a signed contract to guarantee your event date. Contact us here.
Does SoHo offer tastings?
Yes, we do! Please contact your sales manager to inquire about availability and discuss a tasting menu.
It seems like you do so much, do I also need a wedding coordinator or event planner?
SoHo does offer a great amount of event services, but there are critical details that still need professional attention. Having someone dedicated to coordinating your layout and timeline, and ensuring all vendors are fulfilling their contracts is essential to your event’s success. We are happy to plan with you directly leading up to your event day, but we require a coordinator to be our onsite contact the day of the event. And, having a coordinator involved prior to event day is even better!
FAQs About Us
Where does SoHo cater?
SoHo caters in Austin and all surrounding areas. Generally speaking, we travel up to an hour away, but we may be able to make exceptions based on the date of the event.
What does SoHo stand for?
SoHo is a shortened term for Southern Hospitality.
What’s up with the pineapple?
Shaped like a giant pine cone with a voluminous crown, the pineapple immediately commands attention. Due to its seemingly exotic qualities and rareness, the pineapple soon became a symbol of hospitality in early America.
Because trade routes between America and Caribbean Islands were often slow and perilous, it was considered a significant achievement from a host to procure a ripe pineapple for guests. As the fruit became more widely accessible through the years, people continued to use the pineapple as a gesture of neighborliness and unconditional hospitality.
So, while it once represented unreachable wealth, the fruit now represents warm welcomes, celebration and hospitality, especially in the South. SoHo is a shortened term for Southern Hospitality and we could not think of a better icon to represent us than the pineapple!
Hospitality with Heart?
That’s right! Because warm and authentic hospitality should be full of heart…full of enthusiasm, spirit, purpose, care and maybe even some grit. Your SoHo catering team is a hard working group of people who will go the extra mile to make your event memorable. What they do is not easy, but it’s so gratifying to see the end result of each and every event.
